Ever hear of a company called VMWare? Probably not, but it's the company that keeps the Microsoft Server and Tools division up at night. VMWare is MSFTs biggest competition in the Virtualization and Cloud space. And Microsoft wanted to disrupt their biggest event of the year by releasing a piece of video content on the first day of the annual VMWare convention.
They asked us for a newspaper ad. Which we delivered. But we convinced our client that we had to do something more.
It had to feel unlike typical creative within the server and tools space. It had to be entertaining. And it had to be something that would make IT pros reconsider Microsoft.
Meet Tad: Salesman, VMlimited.
The print drove to a series of videos highlighting the deficiencies in Tads offering.
The response was favorable and so we brought Tad back the following year. This time, we put him on the most prominent stage in the world of technology. We gave Tad his own version of a TED talk, rather, a TAD Talk. Here, Tad offers his case against progress to IT pros.
Weird. Fun.
And we supported the effort with billboards, a website, and a dedicated YouTube channel.
